Auras
Have you ever heard me say I can “see your aura”?
Maybe you’ve come across colourful outlines around people in photos or heard that your energy has a certain “vibe.” It can sound a bit mysterious—or even unbelievable. But the idea of auras has been around for a very long time, and it’s still something people talk about today.
In this post, I am going to break it all down in a simple, easy-to-understand way. We’ll look at what auras mean from a spiritual point of view, what science has to say about it, and then bring both ideas together so you can decide what makes sense to you.
What Is an Aura?
An aura is often described as an energy field that surrounds a person’s body. Some people believe this field reflects your emotions, thoughts, and overall state of being. In simple words, it’s like an invisible “bubble” around you that shows what’s going on inside.
Auras can appear as different colours, and each colour means something different. For example:
- Blue might mean calm and peaceful
- Red could mean strong emotions or energy
- Yellow might suggest creativity or happiness
Whether you believe in that or not, it’s an interesting way of thinking about how we feel and how we come across to others.
The Spiritual View of Auras
From a spiritual point of view, auras are very real and very important.
Many ancient traditions talk about energy flowing through the body. In practices like yoga or meditation, this energy is believed to move through centres in the body (chakras). The aura is thought to be connected to this energy system.
According to this view, your aura isn’t just one layer—it has different levels:
- A layer linked to your physical health
- A layer connected to your emotions
- A layer related to your thoughts
- A deeper layer tied to your sense of purpose or spirit
People who work with energy—like healers or spiritual practitioners—believe they can sense or even see these layers. They may use this information to help someone feel more balanced, calm, or healthy.
Even if you have never thought about auras before, you’ve probably experienced something similar in a different way. For example:
- Walking into a room and feeling tension straight away
- Meeting someone and instantly feeling comfortable (or uncomfortable)
- Saying someone has a “good vibe” or “bad energy”
Spiritual teachings would say you’re picking up on energy—in other words, their aura.
What Does Science Say?
Now let us look at this from a scientific angle.
Science does not support the idea that people have colourful, visible energy fields that can be seen with the naked eye. There is no solid evidence that auras exist in the exact way they are described in spiritual practices.
However, that does not mean there is nothing there at all.
1. Your Body Produces Energy - Your body is actually full of electrical activity. Your heart sends out electrical signals to keep beating. Your brain is constantly sending signals too. These signals create small electromagnetic fields around your body. Scientists can measure these fields using special equipment. So in a way, your body really does give off energy—it’s just not visible like glowing colours.
2. Your Body Gives Off Heat - Your body also produces heat, which spreads into the space around you. With special cameras (like thermal imaging), we can actually see this heat as a kind of glow around the body. It changes depending on things like blood flow or health. Again, it’s not an aura in the spiritual sense—but it is a kind of “field” around you.
3. Your Brain Interprets What You See - Sometimes, what people think is an aura might actually come from how the brain works. The human brain is very good at picking up tiny details—like facial expressions, posture, and tone of voice. It puts all of that together very quickly and gives you a feeling about someone. So when someone says, “I can see their energy,” they might actually be sensing lots of small clues without realising it. In other cases, visual effects like light sensitivity or after images can make it seem like there’s a glow around a person.
Explained Simply: Where Science and Spirituality Meet, Bringing Both Views Together
Instead of choosing one side or the other, it can actually help to combine both ideas.
Think of it like this:
- Science explains what’s physically happening in the body
- Spirituality gives meaning to how it feels and how we experience it
The “AURA” might not be a literal rainbow glow—but it can be a useful way of describing your presence, your mood, and how you affect others.
For example:
When someone says, “Your energy feels calm,”
Science might explain it as your body language, tone, and behaviour, while spirituality might describe it as a peaceful aura.
Both are talking about the same experience—just in different ways.
Why, I am a strong Believer in Auras...
Even without scientific proof, the idea of auras has stuck around for a reason.
It helps people:
- Understand their emotions
- Feel more connected to themselves
- Pay attention to how they affect others
- Practice mindfulness and self-awareness
It also gives people a way to talk about things that are hard to explain—like intuition or “gut feelings.” And to be fair, those feelings are very real, even if we do not fully understand how they work.
A Practical Way to Think About It
You don’t have to fully believe in auras to get something useful from the idea.
You can think of your “aura” as:
- The mood you carry
- The energy you bring into a room
- The impression you leave on people
For example:
- When you’re stressed, people can feel it
- When you’re relaxed, others relax around you
- When you’re positive, it lifts the atmosphere
That’s your “AURA” in a practical, everyday sense.
Final Thoughts
Auras sit somewhere between science and spirituality. One side focuses on measurable facts, while the other focuses on personal experience. The truth is, both perspectives offer something valuable.
Science shows us that our bodies are full of energy and signals. Spirituality reminds us that our thoughts, feelings, and presence matter—not just to us, but to the people around us.
So instead of asking whether AURAS are real or not, a better question might be:
What can the idea of an AURA teach us about ourselves?
At the very least, it encourages us to be more aware—of how we feel, how we act, and how we connect with others. And that, whether you call it science or spirituality, is something very real.
