Go Bare

Everywhere I look on billboards, online, reading articles and speaking to friends. More and more women are going bare! Trend setters in the celebrity world with the likes of Janifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Gwyneth Paltrow, Priyanka Chopra, just to name a few have gone braless, be it on an errand run, on the red carpet, on several trendy occasions.

And now the common woman is following the trend since it is becoming the norm but wait this has been going on for ions before celebrities embraced it. From stone age men and women went bare, in fact in many native tribes that currently live in remote parts of the world, be it America, the Amazon rainforest, Africa the tribal women do not wear bras.

The first modern bra was invented by Caresse Crosby in 1914 from two handkerchiefs and ribbon after the discomfort of wearing corsets, garments, and devices beneath her dresses in order to change the appearance of her breasts. And so began a revolution of bras and over the years there have been all sorts of fancy designs and types.

I was curious and wanted to know what all the fuss was. I decided to experiment on going bare for a few days. On the first day I walked braless in the house as I was not brave enough to walk out of the front door of our home. Then one evening I rushed out of the house to pick my husband from the station, I had no time to wear a bra and bare I went. At first it seemed weird not to have your breast restrained by a bra. But it was only a pick up and get back home so I managed it.

And another evening I went to the superstore to get a few things and I went bare with an oversized hoodie. Deep down I knew I had nothing on and I kept looking at the faces of the other shoppers to see whether they noticed. But no one bothered and that made me brave to walk freely. In a way it was liberating, and I felt free to walk about having not a care in what people think.

I am not sure I am brave enough to go bare during the day, I suppose it is the limiting belief in me that wearing supportive undergarments are what the society deems as being respectful. But then again it is our bodies and up to us on how we want to dress them.

I certainly do admire women who have the confidence to go bare in broad day light, they definitely do turn heads but if you are comfortable in your own skin then I do not see the reason why one should not explore their femininity.

To all you women out there! DARE GO BARE!!!
